Independence Day - the Holiday

Hubby's family had a bit of a reunion for Independence Day.  Our family and Hubby's eldest sister's family all drove up to Wyoming to spend the holiday with their brother and his family.

Did you know that Evanston has at least four major fireworks stores?  My brother-in-law had done some construction work for a manager of one of the stores and she gave our group a nice discount.  Here is the final stash of fireworks we brought home.  We lit off the fireworks in the street in front of the house.  We went through about 2/3rds of what you see in the picture, and that took 2.5 hours!  The next night, the 5th, we lit off more and there were still left overs.

Here are some nice pictures of the sunset.
All the pictures I took of actually setting off the fireworks turned out blurry.  Some day, I want a better camera.  At least you can see some of the family gathered for the festivities.
The only thing I really missed was listening to some patriotic music.  The big display in San Diego is actually several all coordinated to music.  Depending on where you are you can see up to seven displays shooting off at once and listen to music on the radio that goes with it.  Pretty cool.
