I have been the recipient of charity recently. Not from people feeling bad for my situation or doing something for me out of guilt, but genuine love and compassion. Some of you know what is going on in my life right now, many of you don't. I want to share that charity is a blessing to those who receive it and those who give.
Some of what I have been given includes a shoulder to cry on, texts saying that you hope I have a good day, a smile, a seemingly random hug from those I'm not that close to, rides to work and appointments, offers of babysitting from the brethren at church and a few sisters who know the family well, bringing me lunch, picking me up to come hang out with you and your kids, dropping by and saying lets go somewhere only to end up sitting on someone else's couch to watch an old movie together, taking my kids to school, calls to my husband to make sure he's doing well and is not forgotten, shared experiences of how you've been there, reassurance that I'm not alone, that I do matter and that I'm not an afterthought or service project. Thank you.
I believe charity is part of one's attitude, that charity, service, love, and compassion [even mercy] are all related. I hope to become more humble and give more charity, the pure love of Christ. Will you join me?

This is awesome. I'm glad you can feel the true love. I can only guess that some of it comes from being away from home...although it seems your back or just blogging about other things while away...anyway I am willing to join you. We have lots to offer others and we can be the light for so many.
So, I was just thinking that you haven't update your blog in awhile, and then clicked on the link. I guess my news feed wasn't working, because I just missed, like, 2 months of blogging! I just thought you were taking a break. :)
Anyway, good post. I always need a reminder to take the time to send a text, email, or make a phone call. It's the little things that mean the most.
I forget that other people enjoy the little things as much as I do!
