Circumcision

I believe every parent considering routine infant circumcision should be required to research as much as possible to obtain true informed consent.  [Though non-therapeutic surgery on a minor brings the question on whether anyone has the legal right to consent.]  One source with many references is Dr. Momma. There are many books, videos, and articles linked though this website.  Topics covered include religion, pain, STIs/STDs, side effects, studies, cultures, history, personal experiences, intact care, famous intact men, female circumcision, sexual repercussions, and much more.  A great place to start reading is Are You Fully Informed?  For those unaware of the Functions of the Foreskin: Purposes of the Prepuce please read it, the excerpts are very informative [warning: this contains some graphic images].  Regarding my religious background, you can read here and hereI ask parents to please be open minded and prepared to learn.  Defensiveness breeds contention and closes channels of communication.
