Well, thanks to the suggestion of a friend, we decided to get one main dish and split it to share so we would each have room for our own choice of desert. I lovingly looked to my wife, who knows that I don't really care for fish, and told her she can order what ever she want for dinner and I will gladly share it with her. She smiled and asked if I would try the Mediterranean style Mahi-Mahi fish, which was the fish of the day.
Through a smile, I said I would love to try, but requested she try the Chicken Tortilla Soup, the soup of the Day. So we talked over a candlelit table and enjoyed the fresh bread; and even though it was a pretty simple thing to go out to dinner, it was very enjoyable. In the gentle light, I could see her beautiful eyes and her gentle smile. It had been a very long time since we have been on a real date.
On the left is the Mahi-Mahi Fish with artichoke and roasted tomatoes, coming from someone who doesn't really like fish, it was excellent. I would gladly have this again, and now I believe some fish is ok. On the right is the chicken tortilla soup, which was perfectly spiced and tasted great on a cool night (we chose to eat on the outdoor patio).
Next, we both read the desert menu with our mouths watering at each description of cheesecake goodness. We both eventually (after much debate) settled on the deserts we would like to devour in sugary extacy. Sailor Mom settled on the Caramel Pecan Turtle Cheesecake (found on the right) and I decided on the multi-layer Chris' Outrageous Chocolate Cake (on the left), both were very, very, very, very delicious.
And all ended well as we thanked the server for our dinner and had a chance to walk around the stores at the mall for a short while. I think Sailor Mom's birthday wish was a good one, I wouldn't mind repeating it next year, hint hint.
I hope to have many more wonderful years full of memories like this to enjoy as we get older.
With all my love to Sailor Mom,
[your] Hubby
